Our start/end times at Sharky's have changed to 8:30 - 11:30 pm (It was 9:00 - midnight). Now were catching some folks finishing up dinner before they leave and so they are tending to hang around for some music. Getting home a half hour earlier is also a nice plus.
People are starting to show up to our gigs at Sharky's in greater numbers. The Sanibel season is finally kicking into gear. We're hoping the press release we put out finds it's way into print this week. There were actually some locals there last weekend but it turns out the were taking a "staycation" at the resort for their anniversary.
We envisioned ourselves as kind of an anti-Jimmy Buffet act for the Fort Myers area - a counterpoint to what you usually get when you see a guy with a guitar at the tiki bar. But everyone seems to clamour for the National Anthem of Florida so we reluctantly added "Margaritaville" to our set list. Though it's one of those songs that is in grave danger of being completely worn out, it actually is kinda fun to play. So Saturday night, some lady requests it, which isn't really surprising. (She was an out of town tourist, of course. No local would request it since they know it will be played sooner or later by everyone) So we rendered our version for her and then her hubby jumped up and put our first $20 tip in the tip jar. I have to admit, that song is kinda growing on me.
